Myrtis May Rushing Roberts

Services for Myrtis May Rushing Roberts, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapelwith burial in Gum Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. JimmySmith and the Rev. Gordon Coker will officiate services.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roberts, 89, died Jan. 30, 2006, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. She was born on April 17, 1916, to Jack Rushing andEula Smith Rushing.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Gum Grove BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, ShermanRoberts; her son, Dennis Roberts; four brothers; and threesisters.

Survivors are her sons, Leonard Roberts, Roger Roberts and hiswife, Dianne, and Barney Roberts and his wife, Edna, all ofBrookhaven; her sisters, Lathia Hall, of Texas, Myrtle White, ofBrookhaven, and Eula Smith of Bogue Chitto; 15 grandchildren; and26 great-grandchildren.

Thomas ‘Tommy’ Sanders

Services for Thomas “Tommy” Sanders, of Grenada, formerly ofBrookhaven, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Big Springs BaptistChurch with burial in the church cemetery. Community FuneralServices is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Sanders, 55, died Jan. 27, 2006, at the G.V. “Sonny”Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Jackson. He was bornon Aug. 1, 1950, to Velvin Sanders and Mary Jean Brister Reid.

He was a disabled veteran. He served in the Marine Corp.

Survivors are his wife, Brenda Sanders, of Grenada; his sons,Matthew Trey Sanders, of Grenada, Thomas T. Sanders of Texas, JamieDurr, of Brookhaven, and Brian Durr and his wife, Sally, ofBrookhaven; his daughters, Amy Coon and her husband, Mike, ofBrookhaven, and Tracey Robinson and her husband Tim, of Tennessee;his brothers, Terry Sanders, and his wife, Diane, of Carthage,Chris Reid and his wife, Keiza, of Brookhaven, and William Reid, ofOhio; his sisters, Inez Osmun and her husband, Butch, and TinaSykes and her husband, Frankie, all of Brookhaven; his stepfather,George H. Reid, of Brookhaven; and eight grandchildren.

Stephanie Leigh West

Services for Stephanie Leigh West, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Thursday, Feb. 2 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mrs. West, 29, died Jan. 28, 2006, at her residence. She wasborn in Jackson on Oct. 8, 1976, to Charles West and PatriciaMorrow Friend.

She was a sales representative. She was a member of PhiladelphiaBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death was her uncle, Steve Morrow.

Survivors are her mother Patricia Friend, of Brookhaven; herfather, Charles West, of Tennessee; her daughter, Kyra Suggs, ofTexas; her grandparents, Harlan and Louise Morrow, of Brookhaven;her brother, Steven Morrow, of Brookhaven; and her sister, MelindaKimble and her husband, Steven, of Wesson.
