W. Lincoln teams sweep Enterprise

Stephen Jones pumped in 19 points to lead five West Lincolnplayers in double figures in their 89-55 Division 7-1A win over thehost Enterprise Yellow Jackets Tuesday night. Jones also collected4 rebounds, made a steal and had 5 assists.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bears were Jeremy Byrdwith 16 points, Jamey Byrd with 14, Shane Lynch with 13 andBradleigh Rice with 12.
The girls game saw Candy Herring fire in 17 points to pace theLady Bears to a 42-29 win over the Lady Jackets. Herring grabbed 9rebounds made a steal and had an assist.
West Lincoln hosts Dexter and Enterprise travels to Salem inFriday night division basketball action.
West Lincoln 89, Enterprise 55
“Enterprise played extremely hard but we wore them down,” saidWest Lincoln coach Lane Young. “Our passing was really good.Everyone played as a team concept, which we need.”
The West Lincoln boys (16-4, 8-2) were led off the backboards byRice with 10 rebounds. Aaron Shaw finished with 7 points, 6rebounds, 2 steals and 10 assists. Jamey Byrd grabbed 5rebounds.
Enterprise (1-18, 0-9) got 22 points from Corey Everett. Netting12 points was Andrew Williams.
“We played real well in the first quarter,” said Enterprisefirst-year head coach Josh Bass. “We came out strong in the secondhalf and cut the score to eight points. Then West Lincoln increasedthe pressure and we made too many turnovers.”
West Lincoln 42, Enterprise 29
The girls game was close in the first half. West Lincoln (13-7,7-3) led Enterprise (9-8, 5-4) briefly 6-5 in first-quarter action.An 11-8 run in the second quarter gave the Lady Jackets a 16-14lead over the Lady Bears.
In the third quarter, a 13-2 scoring spree by West Lincoln gavethe Bears a 27-18 lead going into the fourth quarter.
“The third quarter was the difference,” said Young. “Our teamdefense was the best I’ve seen all year. We got some steals in ourpress and we were aggressive going to the goal.”
April Kennedy and Talashia Fells pulled down 5 rebounds apiecefor the Lady Bears. Kennedy also made 6 steals and had 4 assists.Erica Shaw made 3 steals and had 4 assists.
“We didn’t shoot as well as I know we can as a team,” saidEnterprise girls coach Jill Nations.
Directing the Lady Jackets with a double-double was Alisha Masonwith 16 points and 12 rebounds. Lindsey Everett grabbed 7 reboundsand made 2 steals. Kacey Rutland also pulled down 7 rebounds.
Junior Varsity Results
The West Lincoln boys knocked off Enterprise 49-39. Leading theBears with 17 points was Jeremie Richardson. Netting 9 points eachwere Brett Rushing and Ron Beckley.
Enterprise got 9 points from Matt Price and 7 from TannerDelcombre.
The Lady Bears knocked off the Lady Jackets32-26, powered by Annie Rushing’s 8 points.
Scoring 5 points each for the Lady Jackets were Melane Rutland,Kylie Vincent and Tara Paden.
