Chretien leads Co-Lin over Hinds 3-1

JACKSON — The Co-Lin Wolves defeated the Hinds Eagles 3-1Thursday night in the first game of the Cellular South BackyardBrawl Series at Smith-Willis Stadium.
Co-Lin (3-2) went up on Hinds 2-1 in the third inning. TheWolves added the third run in the top of the ninth to secure thewin.
“We played really well,” said Co-Lin head baseball coach KeithCase. “Brandon (Chretien) pitched real well. I was glad to see usplay well.”
Co-Lin will host Mississippi Delta today in a game postponedfrom Saturday because of rain. The first game at Sullivan Fieldbegins at 1 p.m.
Chretien (6-4, 195) fanned 6 batters, struck out 2, walked 1 andallowed 3 hits. Working the final inning was Matthew Tubbs.
Losing hurler Drew Carlisle (0-2) gave up 6 hits, 2 runs, 2strikeouts and 1 walk. Tyler Williams worked the eighth with 1 runallowed, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Finishing out the ninth was MarkDifferent.
Sophomore catcher Matthew Schexnayder led the Wolves at theplate with 2 singles. Hitting safely were Josh Logan, XavierQualls, Ryan Williams and Dane Orders.
