Franklin rolls past Tylertown

BUDE – Led by a grand slam from freshman Jordan Hunt and somecrafty pitching from Blaine Abernathy, the Franklin County DiamondDogs wrapped up their third straight Region 7-3A victory Thursdaynight with a dramatic 10-8 come from behind win over the TylertownChiefs.
The Bulldogs travel to Tylertown tonight for game two of theirdivision series. Game time has been set for 7:00.
Franklin County (4-11, 3-4) used Hunt’s powerful hit in thethird inning to take a 5-3 lead. The Bulldogs never surrendered thelead after that.
Tylertown’s Josh McBeth absorbed the loss, despite striking outfour and walking three.
Abernathy, a sophomore right handed, secured the win for theBulldogs. Through six innings pitched, he struck two out and walkedfive.
Senior Dann Griffin closed the game out with his second save ofthe season with a strikeout in the seventh.
At the plate, junior catcher Cable McMinn led all batters withtwo doubles and an RBI. Sophomore Ben McDowell had two singles fortwo RBI’s. Ryne Tutor added two singles also.
