Louise Osborne Cupit

Services for Louise Osborne Cupit, of Union Church, are 10 a.m.Thursday, April 6, at Union Church Presbyterian Church with burialin the church cemetery. Harrigill Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Cupit, 89, died April 4, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare. Shewas born in Union Church in Jefferson County on July 27, 1916, toHerman Osborne and Kate Buie Osborne.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Union ChurchPresbyterian Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jeff TrulyCupit; and her sons, Malcolm Cupit and Randall Cupit.

Survivors are her son, Frank R. Cupit and wife, Ernestine, ofBrandon; her daughters-in-law, Eva Cupit and Sue Cupit; hergrandchildren, Kristi C. Cobb, Dana C. Mabry, Malcolm Cupit, NormanCupit, Nancy C. Montage, Suezan C. McCormick and Teresa C.McKinney; and her 19 great-grandchildren.

Richard ‘Rooster’ Kelly

Services for Richard “Rooster” Kelly, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Friday, April 7, at Avery Chapel A.M.E. Church in Brookhaven withburial in Cool Springs Church Cemetery in McCall Creek. WilliamsMortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home,with family present from 7 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Kelly, 41, died March 29, 2006, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Aug. 19,1964, to R.J. Kelly and Savannah Kelly.

He was a logger. He attended Franklin County High School wherehe was a drum major and a front-line trumpet player. He was amember of Avery Chapel A.M.E. Church where he served on the StewardBoard and the Usher Board. He was the church bus driver.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepmother, WillieMae Kelly; his sisters, Willie Bell Cameron and Willie Faye Thomas;and his brother, Mark Anthony Thomas.

Survivors are his wife, Natasha Kelly, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, April Bradford, of Meadville, Nesha R. Kelly and TamaraSanders, both of Brookhaven; his sons, Jawon Bell and Ethan Kelly,both of Brookhaven; his sister, Dianne Dalton, and her husband,Ricky Dalton, of Brookhaven; his stepsisters, Verdia L. Woods, ofFlint, Mich., Rosemary Lyons and Ruby Thomas, both of Brookhaven;his stepbrothers, Archie Thomas, of Brookhaven, Jessie Stovall, ofDetroit, Mich., Leroy Stovall, Larry Thomas and Sylvester Thomas,all of Brookhaven, and David Earl Thomas, of Detroit; and hisnieces, nephews and other relatives.

Bernice Hodges Morgan

Services for Bernice Hodges Morgan, of Hazlehurst, are 2 p.m.today, April 5, at Stringer Family Chapel in Hazlehurst with burialin Wesson Cemetery.

Mrs. Morgan, 78, died April 4, 2006, at Hardy Wilson MemorialHospital in Hazlehurst. She was a lifelong resident of CopiahCounty. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Survivors are her sisters, Pearl Hamilton, of Hazlehurst, JoeSmith, of Houston, Texas, and Jean Ross, of Lander, Wyo.; and herbrother, John Barlow, of Myrtle Point, Ore.

Emile John Schmidt

Services for Emile John Schmidt, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m.Thursday, April 6, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burialin Riverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the serviceat the funeral home.

Mr. Schmidt, 83, died April 3, 2006, at King’s Daughter MedicalCenter. He was born on Sept. 14, 1922, to Emile Schmidt andMargurite Roberson Schmidt.

He was retired from American Standard. He was a veteran of theArmy and served during World War II. He was a member of St. Jamesthe Major Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his twobrothers.

Survivors are his wife, Rita Noble Schmidt; his son, WilliamSchmidt and wife, Patricia, of Albuquerque, N.M.; his daughter, JoyAnn Chandler and husband, John, of Brookhaven; his grandchildren,Diana Mezzanares, Frank E. Bradley, Derek Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt andGavin Schmidt; and his five great-grandchildren.
