BC girls nip St. Al 4-3

VICKSBURG — The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats scratched out 4-3Division 7-1A win over the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes Thursday nightin girls fastpitch softball action. Bogue Chitto improved to 11-7overall and 6-1 in division play.

Meleah Brown was the winning pitcher (10-6) with 14 strikeoutsand 2 walks. Saran Franco fanned 17 and walked one in the loss.

The game was tied 1-all after six innings. Both teams scored arun each in the eighth inning. In the 10th, the Lady ‘Catsoutscored the Lady Flashes 2-1 for the win.

“This was a hard fought game by both teams,” said Bogue Chittocoach Scott Leggett. “Our gals did a great job staying focused andmode the key plays. It was an exciting and tenseful game. Bothpitchers pitched extremely well. We just got the key hits when weneeded them. This win locked us and West Lincoln into the playoffs.We play West Lincoln Tuesday for first place. The junior varsitygame begins at 5 p.m. followed by varsity at 6.

Devon Welch singled twice for Bogue Chitto. Brown doubled.Candace Avants, Chelsey Miller and Shaquille Burton singled.

Leading St. Al with a pair of singles was Taylor George. Kerutand Amy Beaugh hit safely.
