Enteprise wins twice; lands in state playhoffs

The Enteprise Yellow Jackets have secured a berth in the stateplayoffs, anchored by a 15-7 win over Vicksburg St. Aloysius and a1i7-14 win over the Salem Wildcats. Enterprise, coached by SethLofton, is the No. 3 seed in Division 7-1A.

Enterprise raised its record to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in thedivision race. The Yellow Jackets play Monday at Wesson, startingat 6:30.

Offensively, Enterprise shortstop Blake McKee went 4-for-4 with2 doubles. Catcher Matt Floyd had 3 hits, including a double.Centerfielder Peyton Green, rightfielder Johnathan Beeson, thirdbaseman Trent Rutland, designated hitter Ky Mathis, and leftfielderElliot McKee had 2 hits apiece.

“Beating St. Al was a huge win for us,” said Coach Lofton. “Itsecured third place for us in the division,” and a berth in thestate playoffs which begin Thursday.

Natchez Cathedral won the division title and the Green Wave willhost a regional. St. Al finished second and West Lincoln fourth.Enterprise will playin the Cathedral regional against a team fromDivison 5-1A.

Winning pitcher Ryan Kennedy gave up 5 runs on 6 hits, struckout 6 batters and walked 5. Relief pitche Corey Everett hurled theseventh inning, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, fanning 1 and walking1.

Enteprise 17, Salem 12

A 3-run homer by Green powered the Enterprise attack. BlakeMcKee also homered. Rutland slapped 3 doubles. Ky Mathisdoubled.

Corey Everett threw the first 5 innings and got the win. Hestruck out 7 batters, walked 4, gave up 11 hits and 9 runs, 7 ofthem earned.

Erik Kennedy was the losing pitcher.

Floyd and Elliot McKee singled.
