Services for LaVerne White Smith, of Monticello, are 11 a.m.Wednesday, May 10, at Monticello Baptist Church with burial inShiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sontag. Wilson Funeral Home is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 8 to10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith, 90, died May 7, 2006, at Lawrence County Hospital inMonticello. She was born in Lawrence County and was a lifelongresident of the area. She was born on Oct. 4, 1915, to Edgar Whiteand Daisy Parkman White.

She graduated from high school and attended two years ofcollege. She was a school teacher during World War II and thenbecame a bank teller in Silver Creek. She was the first drive-thruteller at Monticello Bank, and retired after many years of service.She was a member of Monticello Baptist Church for 50 years.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, Lawrence County AnimalRescue League and a Daughter of the confederence.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Joe TroySmith; and her brother, Kemp White.

Survivors are her son, Patrick Joe Smith, of Monticello.
