A Delphi Corp. spokeswoman Tuesday did not speculate on thepossible effects of requested court action on the company’sBrookhaven plant, but echoed concerns about the move’s importancefor the future of the company.

“We are at a point when we need to move forward,” said ClaudiaPiccinin, spokeswoman for Delphi Corp. “We have a fiduciaryresponsibility to our shareholders. We cannot afford to keep losingmoney.”

Piccinin did not comment about the possibility of strikes at theBrookhaven Delphi plant and did not discuss negotiations withunions regarding several issues.

“We are not getting into the the specifics of negotiationsbecause we consider those proceedings confidential,” Piccinin said.”We are committed to working with all of our unions to reach aconsentual agreement with all parties involved.”

Representatives from the International Union of ElectronicsWorkers-Communications Workers of America (IUE-CWA), the unionincludes Brookhaven Delphi employees, were unavailable forcomment.
