Roof mishap takes life of Summit man

A Summit man died from injuries sustained from a fall from aBrookhaven grocery store roof Thursday.

Greg Williams, 32, of Summit, fell approximately 30 feet off thebackside of the Save-A-Lot grocery store roof, said Lincoln CountyCoroner Clay McMorris.

Williams, an employee of Tom’s Sheet Metal and Roofing inSummit, was working on the roof around 9 a.m. with two otherroofing employees when the accident occurred.

“No one saw him fall,” McMorris said.

The two employees did not see the fall, but heard the incidentwhen it occurred.

Williams was taken by ambulance to King’s Daughters MedicalCenter, where he was later airlifted to the University ofMississippi Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 2:31 p.m. atUMC, McMorris said.

An investigation is still pending in the matter, McMorrissaid.

Services for Williams, a married father of two, will beconducted by Catchings Funeral Home in McComb.
