Services for Nellie Calcote Denman, of Guntersville, Ala.,formerly of the Auburn community in Lincoln County, are 10 a.m.Friday, June 9, at Adams United Methodist Church in Smithdale withburial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Denman, 81, died June 6, 2006, at Piedmont Hospital inAtlanta, Ga. She was born in Lincoln County on April 21, 1925, toW.H. Calcote and Ruth Ann Smith Calcote.

She was a retired teacher, having taught in Mississippi for 27years. She was a graduate of West Lincoln High School,Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and Mississippi State College forWomen. She was a member of Adams United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her sisters, LouiseMoorer and Elsie White.

Survivors are her husband of 59 years, William H. Denman, ofGuntersville; her son, Bill Denman and wife Jenay, of Atlanta; herdaughters, Janet Langley and husband John, of Guntersville, NancyCarter and husband Dean, of Huntsville, Ala., and Ann Denman, ofGuntersville; her brothers, James Calcote, of Gulfport, and DavidCalcote, of Brookhaven; her sisters, Flora Byrd, of Atlanta,Dorothy Poole, of Hernando, and Ruth Way, of Georgetown, Texas; herfive grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
