NATCHEZ — The Copiah County All-Stars capitalized on a fieldingerror in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored the winning run,edging the Brookhaven Nationals 16-15 Saturday night at DuncanPark. The loss eliminated the Nationals from the Dixie YouthBaseball AAA North Subdistrict Six Tournament. The Nationals hadlost 9-6 to Natchez in Thursday’s opening round..

In a late Saturday night game, the Brookhaven Americans battledWesson in a showdown of unbeaten teams. Copiah, with one tournamentloss to Wesson, advances to Monday’s fourth round, awaiting theloser of the Wesson-Americans contest.

In earlier tournament action, the Americans clipped Natchez14-13 and the Nationals eliminated Franklin County 14-10.

Copiah 16, Nationals 15

Directing the Nationals was third baseman Dylan Watts whosingled twice. Heath Hickman, Myles Tipton and Newt Riley doubled.Dakota Richardson singled.

The Nationals used six pitchers against Copiah County. Rileystarted on the mound.

Copiah was led at the plate by Trevor Cooper who doubled twiceand singled. Hunter Hankins tripled. Mason Serrel and Trent Boonedoubled. Patrick Little, Mason Boone and Alex Daughdrillsingled.

Natchez 9, Nationals 6

Pitcher Newt Riley had 2 singles and a double for the Nationals.Heath Hickman doubled. Landon McCullough doubled. Landon Robertsand Dylan Watts singled.

Riley struck out 7 batters and walked 2 in a losing cause.

Nationals 14, Franklin Co. 10

Heath Hickman pitched the Friday victory, fanning 4 batters andwalking 2 in 3 innings. McCullough got the save.

Hoby Mullins was the losing pitcher.

At the plate, Riley singled twice and doubled. Hickman tripled.Austin Fuller tripled and singled. Brett Spring doubled. Watts andMyles Tipton singled twice. Dakota Richardson and Jacob Thurmansingled.

Franklin County was led by Chase Buckles and Trey Bailey whosingled twice. Derick Brumfield and Tyler Rushing doubled. CadeClanton and Zach Foret singled.

The Americans were undefeated in the tournament after beatingNatchez 14-13 Friday night.

Americans 14, Natchez 13

In the bottom of the sixth inning Friday, Natchez had no outsand the tying run on third base. American third baseman BradyWilson threw out the Natchez runner at home plate as catcher AndrewCulver made the tag.

Landon Nettles struck out the next batter and the final batterpopped out to the shortstop, ending the game. Nettles pitched thewin and hit a home run for Americans.

Nettles replaced Will McDowell in the first inning. In 6innings, Nettles fanned 7 batters, walked 2 batters and allowed 8hits.

The Americans finished with 16 hits. Landon Nix singled anddoubled. Nettles slugged a 3-run homer. he also doubled andsingled.

Wilson singled twice. Andrew Culver tripled. Sam Bivens singledtwice. Treston Roberts singled, Alex Gray doubled. Cody Thornhillsingled. Keith Wells singled twice. Reid Jones singled twice. CoryHickson singled.
