Services for James R. Smith, of Hazlehurst, were 3 p.m. Sunday,July 2, at Galilee M.B. Church in Hazlehurst with burial in thechurch cemetery. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today from 1 until 3 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Smith, 84, died June 27, 2006, in Copiah County. He was bornin Copiah County on August 12, 1921, to Meredith Taylor and CarrieHarris Taylor.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Masons.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Willie Mae Smith; hisparents; his sons, James and Lonnie Smith; his brother, SonnySmith; his sisters, Luella Dixon, Bertha Mae and Beatrice Smith;his grandchildren, Ursula N. Smith and Jamey K. Smith; and hisgreat-granddaughter, Jada Emani Bogan.

Survivors are his wife, Jerlean Smith; his daughters, EthelReed, Catherine Ray, Kathi Calhoun, Lynda Smith, Rosie Smith-Roach,Wilean Blair and Youlanda Nelson; his sons, John Earl Smith, ArthurSmith, Eugene Bourne, James Smith Jr., James Bourne and HermanSmith; his brother, Will Roy Smith; his sisters, Nellie Joiner,Alberta Smith and Irene Smith; five sons-in-law; fivedaughters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; 27grandchildren, 16 great-granchildren; and a host of neices,nephews, other relatives and friends.
