Natchez blanks Americans

Natchez remains undefeated in the Dixie Youth Baseball MajorLeague North Subdistrict Six Tournament. Natchez shut out theBrookhaven Americans 3-0 Saturday night in a sweat-soaked pitchingduel.
Natchez plays the Brookhaven Americans again Monday at 7 p.m.The Brookhaven Nationals beat Wesson 10-7 Saturday and received abye, awaiting the winner on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Jake Brumfield of Natchez and Tyler Case of the BrookhavenAmericans each struck out 14 batters in the classic pitching duel.Case gave up 3 runs and 2 hits, walking just 1 batter.
Brumfield tossed a 1-hitter. He only walked 1 batter.
In the top of the fourth, Scott Turner slugged a 2-run homerover the center field fence for Natchez, giving his team a 3-0lead. Brumfield singled for Natchez.
Brookhaven’s Leighton Jordan broke up Brumfield’s no-hitter witha 2-out single in the sixth.
Nationals 10, Wesson 7
Blake Fugler got the win in relief as the Brookhaven Nationalserased a 5-0, first-inning deficit. He gave up 2 runs and 4 hits,striking out 1 batter.
Zach Ashley started for the Nationals and Daniel Huckabyreplaced him as Wesson exploded in its first at-bat. Fuglerrelieved in the third inning. Jacob Phillip and Austin Travisfollowed Fugler to the mound.
Phillip, Ashley, Braden Smith and Caleb Dunaway had 2 hitsapiece for Brookhaven.
Austin Hutson led Wesson with 3 hits, including a double.
At the plate, Ashley had 2 singles and 2 runs scored. Phillipsingled, doubled and scored twice.
