Services for Bennie Jean Newsome, of Duarte, Calif., were todayat Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin County withburial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Marshall Funeral Home was in chargeof arrangements.

Newsome, 66, died July 2, 2006, at Methodist Hospital inArcadia, Calif. She was born in Smithdale on Feb. 29, 1940, toMilton and Cora Carter.

She was a YWCA Youth Director. She was an employee of the BallGlass and Bottling Company, and a Mary Kay independentsalesperson.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, L.C.Carter.

Survivors are her son, David Carter, her daughter, CharlotteConchalar; her brothers, Louis Carter and James Carter; hersisters, Ruth Jackson, Elois Cage and Kurtil Bell; and her fivegrandchildren.
