Bobby H. Nelson

Services for Bobby H. Nelson, of Tylertown, were 11 a.m. today,July 27, at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery. The Revs. Douglas Lee and Millard Moak officiated. CappsFuneral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nelson, 72, died July 25, 2006, at Walthall County GeneralHospital. He was born in Lawrence County on Feb. 12, 1934, toRobert Vincent Nelson and Sophie Rutland Nelson.

He was a retired prison minister. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Hewas a deacon at Union Baptist Church and involved with FreedomMission.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, L.C.Nelson, Maxie Nelson, Dewey Nelson, Euel Nelson and Malcom Nelson;and his sisters, Barbara Ann Willis, Helen Thames and NonnieThames.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Fay Cox Nelson; his sons, RickyNelson and wife Dana, of McComb, and Terry Nelson, of Houston,Texas; his grandchildren, Blake and Ashley Nelson, of McComb; hisbrother, Hoyt Nelson; his sister, Thelma Thames; and hisstepsister, Polly Shirley.

Pallbearers were Shan Smith, Tony Thames, Joel Thames, JeffThames, Phillip Thames and Jason Pevey. Honorary pallbearers wereA.B. Rushing and Frank Graham.

Daisy Lee Thames

Services for Daisy Lee Thames, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Saturday, July 29, at Mary’s Temple Church of God in Christ inBrookhaven with burial in Friendship Church Cemetery in Brookhaven.Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.

Ms. Thames, 60, died July 24, 2006, at her residence. She wasborn on March 22, 1946, to Johnny Thomas and Lina Mae Fleming.

She was retired. She was a member of Mary’s Temple Church of Godin Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, ThelmaPeavey and Jeanette Peavey; her brother, Charles Fleming; and hergrandson, Robert E. Thomas.

Survivors are her son, Jerry Harden, of Brookhaven; herdaughters, Lillie Thomas and Patricia Thomas, both of Brookhaven,and Lina Thomas and Ionia Thomas, both of Sacramento, Calif.; hersisters, Geraldine Addison, of San Bernardino, Calif.; herbrothers, John Brice, Johnny Brice and Eddie Flemings, all ofMcComb, Lewis Flemings, of Brookhaven, Jessie Thomas, of Flint,Mich., John Thomas and Robert Lee Thomas, both of San Bernardino;her devoted cousin, Ramon Batteast, of Brookhaven; her 13grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends.
