Services for Bernice Porter, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Saturday, Sept. 9, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek.

Visitation is today from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Porter, 92, died Sept. 6, 2006, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 9, 1913, to JohnWesley Herring Sr., and Sarah Evans Herring.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary BaptistChurch

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, LawrencePorter; her daughter, Juliette Westbrook; her son-in-law, RobertWestbrook; her sons, John Porter and Ben Joe Porter; her brothers,Wesley Herring and Bart Herring; and her sisters, Myrtle Graven,Bessie Smith and Evie Kyzar.

Survivors are her sons, George Porter and wife Doris, of BogueChitto, and Daniel Porter and wife Diane, of Brookhaven; herdaughter, Rachel Etienne and husband Al, of Metairie, La.; her 11grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces andnephews.
