Edith Middleton Anderson
Edith Middleton Anderson was born on Sept. 4, 1916, in Roxie toStanton and Julia Middleton. She died on Oct. 10, 2006, in BatonRouge, La., at the age of 90, from complications due to Parkinson’sdisease.
She was a retired teacher and a resident of Brookhaven from 1983until 1999.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge onSaturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. until services at the funeral homeat noon, conducted by the Rev. Gary Shows. Interment in ResthavenCemetery.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and TomBurkhart; two grandsons and their wives, Phillip and Sharon Kemp,and Brad and Misty Kemp; two granddaughters and their husbands,Ashley and Thomas Crowder, and Lindsay and Daniel Archer; and threesisters, Geneva Keys and Naomi Powers, of Jackson, and Julia M.Furr, of Brookhaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev.W. Harold Anderson; a daughter, Sandra Bruce; a grandson, JohnAnthony Bruce; and a brother, Dr. S.L. Middleton Jr.
Margie Lyons Logan
Services for Margie Lyons Logan, of Chicago, Ill., formerly ofBogue Chitto, are at noon on Saturday, Oct. 14, at New Zion UnionM.B. Church in Bogue Chitto, with burial in Bogue Chitto Cemetery.Chicago arrangements are with J.W. Jackson Funeral Home, andWilliams Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Logan, 66, died Oct. 6, 2006, in Chicago. She was born onOct. 24, 1937, to Jim Lyons Sr., and Lee Ester Lyons.
She was a 1958 graduate of Lincoln County Training School inBogue Chitto. She was retired.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, DorisClotel Dillon, Margaret Blackwell, Pauline Richardson and Lee EsterJohnson-Turner; and her brother, Alvin Lyons Sr.
Survivors are her daughter, Valarie Logan, of Chicago; herbrother, Jim Lyons Jr., of Elk Grove, Calif.; and her sisters,Maxine Magee, of Chicago, Bernita Robinson, of Los Angeles, Calif.,Audrey Jones, of Chicago, Louella Bates, of Brookhaven, and MaryMcMorris, of Bogue Chitto; and her four grandchildren.
Robert E. Mobley
Services for Robert E. Mobley, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m.Saturday, Oct. 14, at Alexander Junior High School with burial inHillcrest Cemetery in Brookhaven. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Mobley, 86, died Oct. 8, 2006, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Porterville on May 27, 1920, to Joe Mobleyand Adlean Mobley.
He was retired.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, MaryHubbard, Wilma Mobley and Ora Lee Mobley; his brother, HowardMobley; and his grandson, Farrell Jones.
Survivors are his wife, Eva M. Mobley, of Brookhaven; his sons,James Paul Mobley and his wife Patrice, Freddie G. Mobley, RickeyMobley, Joe Willie Mobley and his wife Leatrice, David E. Mobleyand his wife Shirley, all of Brookhaven, and Lousenia Mobley andhis wife, Sylvia, of Chicago, Ill.; his daughters, Mary B. Greenand her husband Edgar, Dianne Henderson and her husband Paul, allof Brookhaven, and Cassandra Coleman and her husband Ellis, of GlenAllen, Va.; his brother, Joe Mobley and his wife Ann, of Chicago;his sisters, Susie Blanks and her husband John, of Porterville,Pearl Needom, Mildred Powell, Ceasrene Gulley and her husband John,all of Chicago; his 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and ahost of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mattie Elizabeth Munn Smith
Services for Mattie Elizabeth Munn Smith, of Brookhaven,formerly of Wesson, are 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Rocky HillBaptist Church in Copiah County with burial in the church cemetery.Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is today from 4 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home, andon Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at thechurch.
Mrs. Smith, 82, died Oct. 10, 2006, at Silver Cross Home. Shewas born in Copiah County on Nov. 23, 1923, to Quitman S. Munn Sr.,and Lummie Strickland Munn.
She was a homemaker and manager of poultry houses for SandersonFarms for over 30 years. She was an active member of Rocky HillBaptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 46years, Owen M. Smith, of Wesson; her brothers, John Munn, RussellMunn, Walter Munn; and her sister, Bessie Munn and one infantsister.
Survivors are her son, Marion “Toad” Smith, of Wesson; herdaughters, Carol Fortenberry, of Wesson, Rebecca Smith, of Deltona,Fla., and Ruth Calcote, of Brookhaven; her brothers, Cecil Munn andQ.S. Munn Jr., both of Wesson; her sisters, Mae Hart, of Summit,and Etta Moak, of Crystal Springs; her grandchildren, Lisa Tewell,Ray Miller, Charis Case, Eron Sellers, Brittany Smith, Riley Smith,Kyla Smith and Jordan Smith; her great-grandchildren, CourtlinCalcote, Peyton Case, Haley Miller and Rachel Miller; and a host ofnieces and nephews.
