Joseph Burton ‘J.B.’ Cupit

Services for Joseph Burton “J.B.” Cupit, of Bogue Chitto, andformerly of Pride, La., were held at Bethel United Methodist Churchin Pride with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Cupit, 82, died Oct. 25, 2006, at his residence. He was bornin Amite County on Jan. 23, 1924, to Joseph F. Cupit and ElenoreCurtis Cupit.

He was retired from U.A. Local 198 as a pipefitter.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his grandparents, Johnand Katie Cupit, of Liberty; his stepmother, Elizabeth Cupit; hisnephew, Larry Paul Cupit; his wife, Henrietta Cupit; and a brother,Charles Cupit.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Lewis Cupit, of Bogue Chitto;his son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Linda Cupit, of Pride; hisdaughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Greg Croft, of Pride, andPatsy and Gene Brown, of Summit; his stepdaughters and theirhusbands, Judy and Bill Burt, Linda and Keith Souther, Toni and JanAlvey and Patsy Cowart and friend Michael White, all of BogueChitto; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and June Cupit andSteve and Brenda Cupit, all of Central, La.; his sister-in-law, LizCupit, of Clinton, La.; his sisters and brothers-in-law, JoeAnneCupit and Jesse, of Ethel, La., Dottie Threeton and Benny, ofPlains, and Kathy Allen, of Zachary, La.; his uncle, Jack Cupit, ofBrookhaven; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ellis Cupit, Frank Cupit, Allen Cupit, SteveCupit, Mike Cupit and Jason Threeton.

Honorary pallbearers were J.R. Westbrook, Murry Cupit, HarnieKendrick and Jack Cupit.
