Brookhaven Academy boys win; girls bow

Brookhaven Academy’s varsity basketball teams split withHattiesburg Presbyterian Christian School Tuesday night. Thevisiting Lady Bobcats whipped the Lady Cougars 52-34, handing themtheir first loss in eight games. The Cougars of Brookhaven scorchedthe Bobcats 59-38.
Corey Dickerson scored 15 points and had three steals to leadBrookhaven as the Cougars improved to 3-1 on the year under CoachDale Watts. Josh Winborne followed with 12 points and four reboundsin support. T-Boy Lynch added 11 points and Daniel Lofton scored 10for Brookhaven.
Stew Deen scored 13 points to lead Presbyterian Christian.
In the varsity girls game, Julie Little scored21 points to lead the Lady Bobcats in a game that Brookhaven neverled. Lauren Cooper followed with 10 points.
“We didn’t play well at all tonight.” said Brookhaven assistantcoach Lindy Gray. “You can’t beat any good team when you shoot 3for 25 in a half.”
Drew Holland Tigner scored 10 points and grabbed 3 rebounds tolead Brookhaven. Kelli Snider followed with 7 points as Coach BarryGray’s Lady Cougars fell to 7-1 on the season. Kacey Rutland pulleddown 10 rebounds.
The Cougars and Lady Cougars travel to Pelahatchie to play sixgames Saturday against East Rankin. Tipoff in the first game is setfor 2 p.m.
Junior High Results
In the junior high girls game, PCS beat Brookhaven 44-32, led byErin Smith and Shealy Molpus with 16 points apiece.
Anna Katelyn Mangold led BA with 8 points. Summer Calhoun added7 points.
In the boys game, Brookhaven (4-0) whipped PCS 49-30, led byJake Reed’s 9 points. Tripp Jolley, Chandler Rogers and JamisonPowell had 8 points apiece.
