Leasie J. Hodges

Services for Leasie J. Hodges, of West Newbury, Mass., andformerly of Monticello, are 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at WilsonFuneral Home Chapel in Monticello with burial in Bethel BaptistChurch Cemetery in Monticello. Her nephew, Breck Ladd, willofficiate.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Hodges, 80, died Dec. 11, 2006, at Beverly Hospital inBeverly, Mass. She was born on April 17, 1926, to John MarvinJohnson and Ollie Bell Hedgepeth Johnson. She grew up inMonticello. After her marriage, she moved to New Orleans, where shelived most of her life. At age 75, she began living with her sonand daughter-in-law in Massachusetts.

She was a factory worker with Container Manufacturing. She was amember of Suburban Baptist Church in New Orleans, La., and a memberof Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James Q.Hodges; and her sister, Judy Gahn.

Survivors are her son, Quinton Darrell Hodges, of Massachusetts;her sisters, Elsa Shreve, of New Orleans, and Pat Ladd, ofMonticello; and her grandsons, David Quinton Hodges and AllanThomas Hodges.

Ray Holmes

Services for Ray Holmes, of Jayess, are 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15,at Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church in Jayess with burial inthe church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today at 5 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Holmes, 82, died Dec. 12, 2006, at Marion General Hospitalin Columbia. He was born on June 1, 1924, to Buford Raymond Holmesand Lusettie Reid Holmes.

He was a retired salesman with the oilfield, and was alsoemployed with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer.He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Pine Grove UnitedPentecostal Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Oscar FordHolmes; and his sister, Arlene Marie Boyd.

Survivors are his wife, Elavee S. Holmes, of Jayess; hisdaughters, Lynda Powell, of Foxworth, Jean Holland, of Covington,La., and Donna Jones, of McComb; his brother, Norman Holmes, ofJayess; his sisters, Nina Renfroe and Charlene Graham, both ofJayess; and his nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ernest McMahon Martin

Services for Ernest McMahon Martin, of Bogue Chitto, are 2 p.m.today, Dec. 14, at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in UnionHall Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Mr. Martin, 55, died Dec. 11, 2006, at his residence. He wasborn on Oct. 12, 1951, to Dan Allen Martin and Bessie Mae ParsonMartin.

He worked in construction. He was the secretary and treasurer ofDixie Renegade Motorcycle Club. He was a member of Union HallBaptist Church.

Survivors are his parents; his wife, Cynthia Martin, of BogueChitto; his son, Ernest D. Martin, of Bogue Chitto; his daughters,April Burns and husband Kyle, of Bogue Chitto, and Brandy Posey andhusband Justin, of Brookhaven; his brother, Dan D. Martin, ofBrookhaven; his sisters, Shelia Martin, of Brookhaven, and MildredAllen, of Tylertown; and his grandchildren, Ashley Burns, ChloeBurns, Hayden Burns and Charli-ana Posey.

Lessie Mae Mingo

Services for Lessie Mae Mingo, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Saturday, Dec. 16, at New Zion Church of God in Christ inCaseyville with burial in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery in Caseyville.Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Mingo, 95, died Dec. 11, 2006, at Countrybrook LivingCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 4, 1911, to LutherBanks and Bessie Haney Smith.

She was a member of New Zion Church of God in Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; fourgrandsons; her sisters, Clotia Green and Katie Mae Payne; and herbrothers, Robert Smith and Sylvester Smith.

Survivors are her daughters, Rena Thompson, of Brookhaven,Bessie Jackson, of Harvey, Ill., Katie Ruth McKay, of Chicago,Ill., and Lessie B. Harrison, of Crystal Springs; her sons, WilliamMingo, Robert J. Mingo, Otho H. Mingo and George W. Mingo, all ofChicago, and Charles E. Mingo, of Crystal Springs; her sisters,Mildred Levey, of Brookhaven, Alberta Perkins, of Natchez, EthelLee Etter, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jurlean Sewell, of Natchez;her 30 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 24great-great-grandchildren, two great-great-great-grandchildren, anda host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
