BA Cougars roll over PCS Saints

PRENTISS — Brookhaven Academy’s basketball teams swept a fourgame set from Prentiss Christian Thursday night in District 6-AAaction.
Sophomore forward Josh Winborne scored a team-high 18 points andpulled down 7 rebounds to lead Brookhaven to a 77-65 victory as theCougars improved to 11-2 on the year.
Kelli Snider scored a game high 14 points to go along with 3steals and 3 assists to lead the Lady Cougars to a 57-15 win.
BA 77, PCS 65
Brookhaven was able to put 5 players in double figures as theyimproved to 3-0 in district play. Blaine Roberts scored 14, GarrettPosey and Corey Dickerson added 13 a piece and Daniel Loftonfollowed with 10 as Coach Dale Watts’ Cougars raced to a 25-10 leadafter the first quarter. Ty Smith was able to pull down 7 rebounds.Lofton and Posey each collected 6 rebounds. Dickerson added 5assists.
Justin Martin led the Saints with a game-high 22 points. KeithCook and Gavin Daughdrill followed with 16 points apiece.
BA 57, PCS 15
Brookhaven girls coach Barry Gray was able to substitute earlyand often as his team scorched Prentiss for a 21-2 lead after onequarter of play. Drew Holland Tigner scored 7 points and BetsyLynch added 5 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Kacey Rutlandpulled down 6 rebounds.
“This was a good conference win.” said Gray. “Everyone got toplay. It’s always good for those players that work so hard inpractice to get game experience. That should help us a lot inupcoming games.”
Kaci Lightsey led Prentiss with 5 points.
Brookhaven’s teams host Silliman, (La.) Saturday for a five-gameset with tip off in the first game set for 3 p.m.
