Lady ‘Cats crush MSD girls 66-27

BOGUE CHITTO — Kimberlee Thomas recorded a double-doubleThursday night in directing the Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats to a 66-22win over the Mississippi School for the Deaf Lady Bulldogs inbasketball action.

Thomas pumped in a game-high 28 points, pulled down 21 rebounds,made 4 steals and had 2 assists. She scored 20 of her 28 points inthe first half.

In the boys game, Cortland Clay fired in 31 points, grabbed 13rebounds and made 4 steals to lead the Bulldogs to a 74-58 win overthe Bobcats.

Bogue Chitto visits West Lincoln tonight for 3 games, beginningwith the junior varsity boys at 5 p.m. followed by the varsitygirls at 6 and the boys.

Bogue Chitto 66, MSD 28

The Bogue Chitto girls (13-2, 4-0) pounced on MSD (3-9) in thefirst quarter for a 17-7 lead. At halftime, the Lady ‘Cats led theLady Bulldogs 37-11.

“MSD is very athletic,” said Bogue Chitto girls coach ChristiTerrell. “I was pleased with our execution on offense. We hustledbetter tonight, than our first game back from the holidays.”

Devon Welch netted 11 points, collected 5 rebounds and made 2steals for Bogue Chitto. Off the backboards, Candace Avants andAdrienne Hall had 7 rebounds apiece.

“We came back from the holidays and have not practiced sincethen” said MSD girls coach Francis Dillon. “My girls right now arenot in a basketball mode. Hopefully, by district tournament, wewill be ready.”

Disheka Bland’s 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assistssparked the MSD girls.

MSD 74, Bogue Chitto 58

The MSD boys (6-6) exploded for a 25-9 lead over Bogue Chitto(7-6, 2-2) in the first quarter. At halftime, the Bulldogscommanded a 43-25 advantage over the Bobcats.

“We came out and had fun,” said MSD boys coach Daniel Clark. “Welooked pretty good after the holidays. Everyone played well.”

The Bobcats, coached by Andrew Smithie, were led by KeyounnaPerkins with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Mario Addisonfinished with 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Netting 7 pointseach were Antwain Lyons, Seth Avants and Justin London.

MSD got 26 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals from AntoineAllison.

Jr. High Girls

In the Mid-South Tournament at Topeka-Tilton, Bogue Chitto beatTopeka 18-9. Aneshia Dillon led Bogue Chitto with 8 points and 6rebounds. Netting 6 points was Tesheon Rogers. Josie Porter andDarcy Miller scored 2 points apiece. Miller led with 7 steals.Porter made 5 steals and grabbed 3 rebounds.

Topeka got 4 points from Macy Given.

Bogue Chitto plays West Lincoln Saturday for the Mid-Southtitle.
