Walter A. ‘Mac’ McDavid

Walter A. “Mac” McDavid, 89, beloved husband, father,grandfather, brother and uncle, peacefully went to be with theLord, Jesus Christ on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at CentralMississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Visitation is 1 p.m. Sunday at Shady Grove Baptist Church inBogue Chitto, with funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church. Burialwill follow in the church cemetery. Wright and Ferguson FuneralHome in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McDavid was born on Sept. 8, 1917, to Ithamar and JesseMcDavid of Bogue Chitto. He served in World War II, fought in Italyand North Africa, and received the Purple Heart. He was a longtimeemployee of G&O Manufacturing Co. in Jackson.

He loved spending time with his family, gardening, and visitingthe old family farm in Bogue Chitto.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, ChristineBuie and Edna Richardson.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris McDavid; daughter,Bebe Thompson and husband Ty; granddaughters, Andrea and JennyThompson; sisters, Louise Rollins and Winnie McCraw; and a host ofnieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved Maltese,Hutch (also known as “Sonny Boy”).
