Alice Searcy Givens
Services for Alice Searcy Givens, of Monticello, are 2 p.m.Monday, March 12, at Carmel Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello is in charge ofarrangements.
Mrs. Givens, 87, died March 10, 2007, at her residence. She wasborn in Baskin, La., on Sept. 26, 1919, to Leon Searcy and EffieCheek Searcy.
She was retired after 35 years as a bookkeeper with Sears. Shewas a member of Carmel Baptist Church in Monticello.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Shelton P.Givens; her brothers, Stanley Searcy, Ernest Searcy and HerschelSearcy; and her sisters, Minnie Brown, Blanch Stephenson and HazelStephenson.
Survivors are her daughters, Joann Givens Ortega, of Monticello,and Gail Givens Howell, of Moss Point; her granddaughters, BeverlyH. Hanson and husband Johnny, Melanie H. Reitz and husband Dave,Kimberly H. Scott and husband Mark, Renee O. Mancini and husbandRichard, Dana O. Hajovsky and Kerri O. Smith and husband Michael;her grandsons, Allen and Alex Reitz, and Jaime Ortega; hergreat-grandchildren, Emily and Brianna Hajovsky, Richard andMichelle Mancini, Britnye, Toby and Hilary Sartain, Shea, Rae andOlivia Hanson, Linzi Smith; and her great-great-grandchildren,Jayden Bannister, Corbyn Fryfogole and Braden Mancini.
John E. Nelson II
Services for John E. Nelson II, of Wesson, are 10:30 a.m.,Tuesday, March 13, at Beauregard United Methodist Church in Wessonwith burial in Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson. RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Nelson, 42, died March 10, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born on April 22, 1964, to John EdwardNelson and Kareemie Ellis Nelson.
He worked in quality assurance with Grand Gulf Nuclear Stationin Port Gibson. He was a member of the Wesson Lions Club and amember of Beauregard United Methodist Church.
His father preceded him in death.
Survivors are his mother, Kareemie Ellis Nelson, of Port Gibson;and his sister, Marilynne M. Nelson, of Jackson.
Memorials may be made to Beauregard United Methodist Church, theAmerican Heart Association or Brookhaven Relay for Life.
