Co-Lin splits with Southwest

SUMMIT — The Co-Lin Wolves and the Southwest Bears split aSouth Davison baseball doubleheader Saturday in the CardiovascularInstitute of Mississippi Heart Challenge for the trophy.

Co-Lin fell to Southwest 5-4 in the opener and came back to winthe finale 6-4.

Co-Lin (13-12) travels to Jones County Wednesday in Ellisvillefor two games. The first game kicks off at 4 p.m. Keith Casecoaches the Wolves.

Southwest 5, Co-Lin 4

In the first game, Southwest rallied for 4 runs in the bottom ofthe fourth inning for the comeback win over Co-Lin. Lucas King gotthe win. Timmy Foster (0-2) took the loss in relief of starterBrandon Chretien who had 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Jordan Toney singled twice for the Wolves. Gauthe and Fostersingled.

Southwest got 2 singles from Jamie Jones. Neilson Chao, BlakeMcKee and Guy Copeland singled.

Co-Lin 6, Southwest 4

Posting the win was Brandt Hinton (4-2) with relief from BrettHartfield the final two innings. Logan Nickerson took the loss.

Co-Lin led 4-3 after three innings and outscored Southwest 2-1to preserve the win.

David Alton New led Co-Lin with 2 singles.

Jones paced Southwest with a triple and a double.
