Wesson stuns Loyd Star

WESSON – Chris Fink’s 4-for-4 night and some solid pitching fromJonathan Grace helped give the homestanding Wesson Cobras to adramatic 7-1 decision Tuesday night in Region 6-2A baseball action.Fink had 2RBI.
Wesson travels to Loyd Star Thursday for 2 games, the first gamebegins at 4:30 p.m.
Wesson (10-13, 4-4) got six strikeouts from Grace en route tothe victory. Grace walked four batters.
At the plate, Fink collected four singles for 2 RBI. Trey Fisheradd two singles, while Joe Decker belted a home run. Micah Davis,Daniel Watson, Caleb Broome and Grace each collected a singleapiece. Davis stole three bases.
Defensively, the Cobras turned 4 double plays and left 9 runnersstranded.
Loyd Star pitcher Evan Smith absorbed the loss on the mound forthe Hornets (14-9, 7-6), despite striking out three and walkingfive.
Hunter Speeg provided a solo home run to plate Loyd Star’s onlyrun. Jarred Rogers, Ryan Wallace and Drew Weaver each collected asingle apiece.
Wesson, coached by Hugh Knight is currently in second place inthe Division 6-2A standings. Loyd Star is coached by JonathanBreakfield.
The Cobras hosts the West Lincoln Bears at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.Friday in makeup games. Wesson entertains Magee Saturday beginningat 11 with a 2 games.
