Cecile Ruth Ginsberg Schlesinger

Cecile Ruth Ginsberg Schlesinger died recently at the age of 79,following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Originally fromSavannah, Ga., Mrs. Schlesinger moved to Hattiesburg as a youngchild. After marrying Milton A. Schlesinger, she moved toBrookhaven, where she often worked in the family’s two shoe stores,The Shirley Slipper Shop and The Boston Shoe Store. When herhusband left the retail shoe profession and went into the practiceof law, Mrs. Schlesinger moved her family to Hattiesburg, where shehad spent her own childhood.

She was a member of Temple B’nai Shalom in Brookhaven and TempleB’nai Israel in Hattiesburg.

Mrs. Schlesinger is predeceased by her husband, Milton AbramsSchlesinger, and her brother, Herbert Ginsberg.

She is survived by her three children, Sue Brook and husbandMaury, of Marietta, Ga., Sharon Shedd and husband Cory, of Aurora,Colo., and Dr. Louis Schlesinger and wife Ina, of Macon, Ga.; abrother, Sidney Ginsberg, of Evanston, Ill.; and fourgrandchildren, Brittany Brook Dasher, of Winston-Salem, N.C., RichHarrington, of Sacramento, Calif., Jeremy Brook, of Athens, Ga.,and Rachel Schlesinger, of Macon.

Visitation with the family will be from 10 until 11 a.m. onTuesday, April 17, at Temple B’nai Israel in Hattiesburg, withfuneral services to follow immediately afterward at the temple. Abrief interment ceremony will be held at the Hattiesburg Cemeterydirectly following the funeral.
