Spring cleaning time is here and Lincoln County officials areoffering citizens a helping hand in their efforts.
As part of the Great American Cleanup, garbage bins are beingplaced in designated areas around the county for spring cleaners toget rid of garbage and other items. Residents may use the largereceptacles to dispose of items they cannot normally put out withthe household garbage, items such as furniture, mattresses, televisions, clothes, building materials or others.
In addition, batteries, tires and white goods may be placed onthe ground near the garbage receptacles for removal.
After being placed in District One last weekend, the bins weremoved to District Two on Brignall Road this weekend. The bins willbe at the Brignall Voting Precinct until 9 a.m. Monday.
Future dates and sites include:
District Three – April 19-23 in Bogue Chitto onHighway 51 at Brister Street.
District Four – April 26-30 at the intersectionof Hurricane Lake Drive and Springview Road.
District Five – May 3-7 at James Case Store onCalifornia Road.
The program’s first two weekends have produced overflowconditions around the garbage bins.
While the situations are temporarily unsightly, Keep LincolnCounty Beautiful and county officials welcome the overflowconditions as opposed to the garbage being scattered throughout thecounty at illegal dump sites. That creates unsightly conditions inmultiple areas, which also are far more problematic to clean up andto keep clean.
This weekend and in coming weekends through early May, weencourage residents to use the bins and then do all they can tokeep Lincoln County beautiful throughout the year.
