Services for Major Johnson Sr., of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Monday, April 30, at Williams Mortuary Chapel with burial inHillcrest Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home,with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.

Mr. Johnson, 76, died April 23, 2007, at his residence. He wasborn on July 4, 1930, to Ben Johnson and Louise Johnson.

He was retired.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Bessie MaeJohnson; his brothers, Robert Johnson and Lucious Johnson; and hissisters, Hazel Johnson, Bessie Richardson and Queen Moon.

Survivors are his sons, Major Johnson Jr. and wife Willie Mae,Randy Tyler and wife Alicia, all of Brookhaven, Willie Jackson andwife Linda, of Germany, and James Johnson and wife Linda, of BatonRouge, La.; his daughters, Dorothy Reese, of Sontag, Mary AnnJenkins and husband Vernon, Janie Mae Johnson and Mayree Tyler, allof Brookhaven; his brother, Willie Johnson, of Morehead; hissister, Geneva Webb, of Brookhaven; his devoted companion, InezHumphries, of Brookhaven; and his 20 grandchildren and 19great-grandchildren.

Bernice Phillips

A memorial service for Bernice Phillips, of Brookhaven, will beheld at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Willie Mae Tyler MemorialChapel. R.E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Phillips, 88, died April 22, 2007, at her residence. Shewas born on Oct. 8, 1918, to Mr. and Mrs. Josh Baker.

She was a retired restaurateur in Chicago, Ill. She was a memberof St. James M.B. Church in Brookhaven.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, ElbiePhillips Sr.

Survivors are her sons, Eugene Phillips, of Brookhaven, andLafeyette Robertson, of Chicago; her daughter, Linda SheriePhillips, of Chicago; and her 10 grandchildren.
