Southwest MS All-Stars take USSSA championship

BRANDON — The 13 year-old Southwest Mississippi All-Stars wentundefeated in 4 games to capture the USSSA State BaseballChampionship.
Playing for the SWMS Stars are Yohance Bailey, Emile Garrett,Austin Travis, Tyler B. Case, Taylor Jones, Anthony Durr, JosephClark, Loren Lafontaine, Zack Stutzman, Austin McFarland and LandonMobile.
The SWMS coaches are Travis Smith, Mark Durr and ChrisTravis.
The SWMS Stars defeated the Madison Majors 4-1 and the VicksburgAll-Stars 15-5 last Sunday. In Saturday’s games, SWMS put away theMadison Majors 7-2 and the Madison Knights 12-3.
SWMS 4, Madison Majors 1
Case was the winning pitcher with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.
At the plate, Travis doubled and singled for SWMS. Clarkdoubled. McFarland singled twice.
Hunter Starnes singled for Madison.
SWMS 15, Vicksburg 5
Posting the win was Travis with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks. JakeWard took the loss with no strikeouts and 1 walk.
At the plate, SWMS was led by McFarland and Case with a tripleand a single apiece. Bailey singled 3 times. Ripping a double and asingle was Clark. Travis doubled. Singling were Garrett, Mobile andStutzman.
SWMS 7, Madison Majors 2
Durr sparked SWMS with a triple. Smashed 2 singles each wereMcFarland and Jones. Clark doubled. Hitting safely were Bailey,Garrett and Travis.
Travis posted the win, fanning 2 batters and walking 1. Starnestook the loss with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks.
Singling for Madison was Taylor Case.
SWMS 12, Madison Knights 3
Case got the win with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Collecting a triple and a single for SWMS was Garrett. Clarkdoubled. Durr and Case each singled twice. Bailey and Jones hitsafely.
