Wesson AAA eliminated

PASCAGOULA — The Mendenhall All-Stars eliminated Wesson 5-3Saturday night in the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA South State RegionalTournament. On Friday, Wesson lost to Pascagoula 9-4.
“Our kids accomplished a lot and I’m proud of them,” said Wessonmanager Jerry Hood. “They are hurting right now.”
Mendenhall 5, Wesson 3
Mack Smith went 5 innings for Wesson. He struck out 6 batters inthe loss.
Wesson scored once in the first inning. C.J. Viramontez walkedand later scored on a wild pitch.
Wesson broke up a 1-1 tie in the fifth. Peyton Hood led off witha single and Smith doubled. Colby Porter’s single scored Hood for2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth Mendenhall scored 4 runs on 2 hits, 1walk and 1 error. Chris Hobbs provided a 2-run double.
Wesson scored in the top of the sixth. Jase Alexander reached ona fielder’s choice. Alexander scored on an error.
Billy Cameron was the winning pitcher, going 6 innings. Cameronfanned 8 batters.
Pascagoula 9, Wesson 4
Pascagoula plated 4 runs in the first inning and led 8-1 after2. Wesson’s pitchers hit 4 batters and walked 2.
Mack Smith hit a solo homer in the second. Wesson scored 3 runsin the fourth as Mac McQuage and Viramontez doubled. Hood had anRBI grounder. Jonah Henderson hit an RBI ground out.
McComb 11, Wesson 0
High-powered McComb captured the Dixie Youth Baseball Major 11sDistrict Six Tournament Saturday, shutting out the host Wessonteam. McComb went unbeaten in the double-eliminationtournament.
