Lincoln County rips Cleveland in 14s tourney

HATTIESBURG — Calvin Robinson hit the winning run that forcedthe 10-run rule Monday as the Lincoln County All-Stars posted a15-5 win over Cleveland in 5 innings in the Dixie Boys BaseballLeague 14s State Tournament.
\In Monday’s other games, Laurel-Jones stopped Petal 6-1 in thewinner’s bracket. In the other loser’s bracket game, Hattiesburgheld off Mize for a 6-4 victory.
Lincoln County (2-1) battles Moss Point today at 2 p.m. andHattiesburg battles Petal at 4:30 in the loser’s bracket. Laurelfaces Sumrall at 7 p.m. today in a matchup of unbeatens.

Scottie Peavey was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts and 5walks in 3 innings pitched. Following Peavey were Garrett Greer inthe fourth inning and Tyler Case in the fifth.
Powering Lincoln County at the plate with 3 singles was Case.Gabe Wilson and Marquis Hayes delivered a double and a singleapiece. Ripping a pair of singles each were Bubba Keene, CameronBarry and Travis Sorrels. Doubling were Travis Keene, Joe Patrickand Robinson. Jarrett Todd and Peavey singled.
Davis Worthy absorbed the loss, fanning 3 batters and walking6.
Cleveland was led by Parker Noble with a home run. Wynn Roarkdoubled followed by Trey Wells with a single.
Cleveland tied the game 1-all in the top of the second inning.Lincoln County went up 2-1 in the bottom of the second then added 9unanswered runs in the third for a 10-1 advantage.
At the end of the fourth, Lincoln County commanded a 14-2 lead.Fifth-inning action saw Cleveland scored 3 runs and Lincoln Countypicked up a run for its 15th to end the game under the 10-runrule.
