Services for Lexie Jeanette Kyzar Wilson, of Brookhaven, are 11a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drivewith burial in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in BogueChitto.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Wilson was, in her own words, “ninety-nine and nine-tenthsyears old.” She died July 25, 2007, in the home of her daughter andson-in-law, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in BogueChitto on Aug. 16, 1907, to Lemuel F. and Lula Mae Boyte Kyzar. Shewas the oldest of five girls. She grew up in and around BogueChitto, Summit, Norfield and McComb. In 1926, she met and marriedBenjamin B. “B.B.” Wilson at Bogue Chitto. They made their home inMcComb, but eventually settled on their farm southwest ofBrookhaven.

She was a forelady for Stahl-Urban Manufacturing Co. Later,after the departure of her son and daughter to their own homes, shefound the opportunity to re-enter the work force, where she enjoyedher friends and customers at both the Dixie Bargain Store andWalley-Field Drug. In addition to work in town, life on the farmcontinued with cotton and tree farming, until retirement, afterwhich the couple enjoyed touring the West, Northwest and WesternCanada.

After the loss of her husband in 1980 and until the age of 89,she maintained the home and farm and continued the magnificentgarden they had cultivated together through the years. She lovedall things beautiful, as friends and passersby praised the resultsof her magic thumb with azaleas, lilies, dogwoods, iris, roses,gardenias and more. Though sewing was no longer her profession, itwas still her love at her own sewing machine. In recent years, shedownsized her sewing to focus on the crochet she made and gave awayto loved ones and friends.

After marriage, Mrs. Wilson joined her husband in thecongregation of the First United Methodist Church in Brookhaven.Later, upon the request of the district superintendent and thepastor at First church, they left to help reopen the MallalieuMethodist Church, where they were members until Mr. Wilson’s death.She then joined her son and family at the Jackson Street UnitedMethodist Church.

She will be held in the hearts of those who loved her for hersweet spirit, sense of humor, loyal faith for her family andfriends, and her love of the Lord.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, B.B.Wilson; her brother, Luther Edward; and her sisters, BonniePhillips, Ethel Thames and Helen Nations.

Survivors are her son, B.F. Wilson and wife Jean, of Brookhaven;her daughter, Kathryn Hensarling and husband Kin, of Terry; hersister, Francis K. Godbold Boyd, of McComb; her grandchildren, theRev. Dale Hensarling and wife Tricia, Gary Hensarling and wifeJane, Phil Wilson, Diane H. Russell and husband Herschel, Karyl W.McGraw and husband Herman, and the Rev. Heather Hensarling; herfive great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; andmany beloved nieces and nephews.

The family thanks hospice staff members Linda Byrd, R.N. andAngelia Seals, for their compassionate care for Mrs. Wilson overthese years.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the charity ofone’s choice.
