Services for Donald Rexford “Rex” “Tall Boy” Robbins Sr., ofJayess, are 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Tilton United MethodistChurch in Lawrence County with burial in Tilton Cemetery. The Revs.Chucke Carney, John Gerald and John Mackie will officiate. JonesFamily Funeral Services in McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robbins, 74, died Aug. 7, 2007, at G.V. (Sonny) MontgomeryVeterans Administration Hospital in Jackson. He was born inLawrence County on Sept. 9, 1932, to John Icely Robbins and JessieCornelia Summers Robbins.

He was retired, having worked in the oil fields and for LawrenceCounty. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and alifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member ofTilton United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters, ImogeneTolar and Francine Bunch.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Willie Greer Robbins, ofJayess; his son, Donald R. Robbins Jr. and wife Charlotte, ofJayess; his daughters and sons-in-law, Abby and Jerry Cothern, ofJayess, Stacy and Tim Wilson, of Smithdale and Vicki Alexander, ofBaton Rouge, La.; his 13 grandchildren and 25great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Alex Alexander, Dewayne Robbins, Jeremy Cothern,Mark Reid, Allen May, Kevin Chipman and Joey Durr.

Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Joe Smithie, Louis Givens, JackieRobbins, Gerald Reid, Wayne Renfroe, Randy Calhoun, Wally Givens,Matt Holmes and Jake Jacobs.
