Joseph Vernon Davis

Services for Joseph Vernon Davis, of McCall Creek, were 11 a.m.Monday, at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church, with burial in thechurch cemetery. Elder Luke Addison officiated. Jones FamilyFuneral Services in McComb was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Davis, 80, died Aug. 19, 2007, at his residence. He was bornin Franklin County on Feb. 3, 1927, to Willie Davis and AgnesDavis.

He was a member of Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church. He was aretired TV repairman for Hutchison’s TV in Summit. He was a veteranof the United States Army. He enjoyed camping, traveling,woodworking and playing old-time country and gospel music on guitarand mandolin with a host of family, friends and fellowmusicians.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary E.Jordan Davis; a brother, Maxie Davis; and a sister, MatalaneDavis.

Survivors are his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and CharlesSpring, of McCall Creek, and Carol and Steve Jones, of McComb; hisbrother, Wesley Davis, of Brookhaven; his sister, Katie Arnold, ofMcCall Creek; and his grandchildren, Amanda Spring, Curtis Spring,Stephanie Jones and Rebecca Jones.

Pallbearers were Melwin Smith, Willie Lewis, Thomas McEwen,Jimmy Smith, R.B. “Dunk” Wallace and Delton Moak. Honorarypallbearers were Billy McCall and Elwin Smith.

Patsy Ashley Delaney

Services for Patsy Ashley Delaney, of Meadville, are 2 p.m.Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Sarepta Baptist Church in Franklin County withburial in the church cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home in Meadvilleis in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Delaney, 60, died Aug. 18, 2007, at the University MedicalCenter in Jackson. She was born in Natchez on Nov. 10, 1946, toMelvin Ashley and Flora Payton Ashley.

She was a retired bus driver. She was a member of SareptaBaptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, CharlesRoy Delaney Sr.

Survivors are her sons, Jason Delaney and Charles Roy DelaneyJr., both of Meadville; her daughter, Nancy Strittman, ofMeadville; her sisters, Melba Frasier, of Vidalia, La., Jo AnnTaylor, of Jena, La., Joyce Fay Cater, of Vidalia, and DarleneHawking, of Ferriday, La.; and four grandchildren.
