Brook girls romp past Port Gibson

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers pounded out 14 hits; to the tune ofa 15-0 Division 6-4A win over the Port Gibson Lady Wave Tuesdayevening in slowpitch softball action at the Lady Panther SoftballComplex. Inside-the-park home runs from Hannah Lowman and TerriHodges highlighted Ole Brook’s first division game.

With the win, head coach Lisa Covington’s Lady Panthers improvedto 5-2 overall and 1-0 in division play.

Ole Brook travels to West Lincoln Friday for a JV/Varsitydoubleheader, starting at 5 and 6 p.m.

Brookhaven 15, Port Gibson 0

It took only 4 innings for Brookhaven to pick up the shutout win.Casey Risher picked up the win, allowing 3 base hits and fanning 4Wave batters. She also help her cause at the plate with a singleand 2 runs scored.

The Panthers plated 8 runs in the first to set the tone for thegame. They scored twice in the second and fourth.

Lending run support for Brookhaven were Lowman (3), Hodges (2),Georgia Rae Rainer (2), Stevie Wright, Jordan Beeson, Sarah Ayers,Kelsey Freeman, Karlee Martin, Sabrina Delaughter and BrittanyBateman.

“We were able to get some hits today,” Coach Covington saidfollowing the game.

Collecting base hits were Delaughter, Lowman, Ayers, Beeson, KatieStewart, Wright (2), Martin and Bateman. Delaughter tripled.
