Services for Shirley E. Brown, of Jayess, are 11 a.m. Friday,Aug. 31, at Topeka Baptist Church in Jayess with burial in RobertsMemorial Cemetery in Jayess. Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello isin charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Brown, 72, died Aug. 28, 2007, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born on Sept. 24,1934, to E.C. Lewis and Annie Goodman Lewis.

She was a retired registered nurse with Lawrence CountyHospital. She was a member of Topeka Baptist Church, and a memberof the Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter, Kim MarieLaird; her stepson, Guy Lester Brown; her seven brothers and foursisters.

Survivors are her husband, Johnnie M. Brown, of Jayess; her son,Gerald Ira Newman Jr., of Albany, Mo.; her daughters, Theresa E.Salter, of Los Angeles, Calif., Lisa Ann Reid, of Mobile, Ala., andCynthia Kaye Alexander, of Jayess; her stepson, Douglas MiltonBrown, of Houston, Texas; her stepdaughter, Sharon Kaye Smithie, ofJayess, and Geralyn June Fox, of Albany; her 17 grandchildren and19 great-grandchildren.
