Second half powers Cobras past Loyd Star

WESSON — When the Loyd Star Hornets met the unbeaten WessonCobras Friday night in Stone Stadium on the Co-Lin campus, it waslike watching two different ball games.

Loyd Star dominated Wesson in stats in the first half buttrailed by 1 point, 7-6, at the intermission. The second half wasthe opposite as the Cobras scored 2 big touchdowns and ran time offthe clock to come away with a 20-6 Region 6-2A victory over theHornets.

Wesson pushed its record to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in theregion. Loyd Star fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the region.

Friday night, Wesson travels to Enterprise and Loyd Star hostsHinds AHS in division action. The games begin at 7 p.m.

“Loyd Star got after us in the first half,” said Wesson coachTommy Clopton. “We lost the ball twice in the first half. Wechallenged our guys at halftime.”
