County man dies after ATV crash at fire

A Lincoln County man has died of complications stemming from anall-terrain vehicle wreck he had during an August fire thatdestroyed several hundred acres in the southern part of thecounty.
Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said Thursday morning thatRobert Rollins, 77, died Wednesday around 7:30 p.m. at UniversityMedical Center in Jackson. McMorris said it was his understandingthat Rollins had been at UMC since the accident, which occurredAug. 20.
Rollins was transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center byambulance when he was injured after his four-wheeler flipped.Shortly thereafter he was airlifted to UMC.
Officials said he was attempting to chart the progress of a firethat ended up burning 688 acres in the area between Fox Road,Somerset Road and Pricedale Lane when he lost control of theATV.
Witnesses at the scene of the fire said he was also trying toalert neighbors of the danger.
