Franklin, Lawrence in road tests

The defending Class 3A state football champ Franklin CountyBulldogs and the Lawrence County Cougars come into Friday night’sgames supporting 4-0 ledgers. Their unbeaten records are on theline as Franklin County travels to Tylertown in a Region 7-3Acontest and Lawrence County invades McComb for a Region 6-4Amatchup. Action begins at 7 p.m.

In other area football action, North Pike is at Amite County,South Pike invades Jefferson County, Hazlehurst travels to Raymondand Crystal Springs is at Collins.

Lawrence County surprised region rival Florencelast Friday night and came away with a 37-14 victory. This week,Coach Mike Davis and his Monticello-based Cougars (4-0, 1-0) visitsthe Tigers of McComb.

Coach Davis was impressed with the size of McComb’s offense.

“McComb looks big and fast,” said Davis. “They look like ahandful. Their offensive line is so big. They look like a couple oftank. No. 21 (Bobby Felder) and 15 (Justin Powell), those cats canget off the line of scrimmage. They move them all around atwingback and tailback. They are kind of balanced running a good bitand throwing.
