Annexed citizens face new garbage pickup plan

With October’s start, some recently annexed Brookhaven citizensare switching to a new twice-weekly garbage pickup schedule andcollection officials are asking for patience as they adjust to theroutine.

Many people might have noticed their garbage was not picked upMonday as it usually was, but Waste Management Site Manager NeilLemoine said there is no need for alarm.

“There were a few hiccups on some things that got overlooked,but those should all be taken care of this morning,” he saidTuesday. “There were some miscommunications, but that should havebeen picked up already this morning.”

Lemoine said the new schedule only involves the residencesbrought into the city in the annexation, and that it may take alittle time to get the kinks worked out.

“They’re not running really efficiently right now,” he said,pointing out that Monday was the first day of the new schedule.”But throughout the next couple weeks they’re going to get itworked out and settle down and be more efficient. Bear with us fornext few weeks. After today we shouldn’t be missing anyone.”
