Board OKs $1.9M project for Enterprise

Lincoln County School District board members approved the $1.9million cost of constructing a new 12-classroom building atEnterprise Attendance Center during their meeting Monday.

The low bid, offered by Brookhaven’s Paul Jackson and Son, Inc.,was more than $300,000 higher than expected, but included someadditional construction measures that became apparent after theinitial estimate, said Superintendent Terry Brister.

“There’s a lot of dirt that needs to be moved. We’ve got toraise (the land) up,” he said. “We also have utilities that have tobe moved. We can’t just hook up to them. They’ll need to bemoved.”

The building will be located in the same place where classeshave been held in temporary structures for the past few years, hesaid. It will be modeled to look like the school’s existingbuildings.

“They’re ready to start the preconstruction work now,” Bristersaid.
