Arts building to be named for former Brookhavenite

Music aficionados in Florida will honor a former Brookhavenresident Monday for her lifelong devotion to the arts.

The headquarters of the Florida Music Educators’ Associationwill carry the name of June Hinckley following a renaming ceremonyin Tallahassee, Fla., Monday afternoon.

The June M. Hinckley Center for Fine Arts Education houses theFMEA, the Center for Fine Arts Education, the Florida Art EducationAssociation and the Florida Network of Arts Administrators.

Eunice June Maddux Hinckley, 63, died of cancer Feb. 24, 2007,in Birmingham, Ala.

She was the fine arts specialist at the Florida Department ofEducation from 1984 to 2007. Hinckley was a founding member of theArts for a Complete Education and Florida Alliance of ArtsEducation and served on the board of directors.
