Colonels march past PCS Saints

GALLMAN — The defending Class AA state football champion CopiahAcademy Colonels notched their first District 4-AA win of theseason Friday night with a 41-7 romp over the Prentiss ChristianSaints.
Copiah improved to 1-1 in the district and 6-1 on the season.Prentiss fell to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in district play.
“We set the tone and the tempo early on and put them away,” saidCopiah first-year head coach Scotty Cline. “We put them away early.We got some players some rest.”
Colonel senior quarterback Daniel Sims completed 5 of 11 passesfor 103 yards, including 3 touchdowns.
Copiah scored 3 touchdowns in the first quarter for a 20-0 lead.Sims connected to Bryce Guess on a 10-yard touchdown strike, BenBoone rushed for a 2-yard score and Sims hit Hunter Greer for a13-yard TD. Price Henley missed the first PAT but went on to makethe next 5.
