Valentine is Miss Merry Christmas

Eleanor St. Clair Valentine has been named Brookhaven’s 2007Miss Merry Christmas and will serve as the city’s ambassador ofChristmas Spirit throughout the holiday season.
The senior at Brookhaven High School was chosen from a field ofsix contestants Monday during the contest at the Chamber ofCommerce. Contestants were judged on criteria such as interview,poise and personality.
“We had six wonderful contestants, and as always it was adifficult job for the judges,” said pageant coordinator Rita Rich.”I thought everyone did great. We’re always pleased and honored tohave excellent representation from Brookhaven and LincolnCounty.”
Valentine said she was honored to have been chosen from such atough field.
“I’m very honored,” she said. “Christmas is my favorite time ofthe year, and I’m excited to represent the community in doingthings I care about.”
She said she is especially looking forward to hostessing theholiday open houses this year.
Reigning Miss Merry Christmas Ashlee Richardson said there isfun to be had in store for Valentine, so much so that she wishesshe didn’t have to give up the crown.
“I loved everything about it,” she said. “I hate to have to passit on. I wish I could do it forever.”
Valentine is the daughter of Amy and Dennis Valentine ofBrookhaven. She is a cheerleader, a member of the annual staff, anda baseball statistician. She is on the honor roll at BHS and is amember of the National Honor Society. She also takes dancelessons.
Other contestants, who will serve as maids and will also ride inthe parade, are Liana Bass, Rachel Blair, Kathleen Carollo, HeatherHuff and Caitlin Jackson.
