McNair’s touchdowns lead Pirates over BC

MT. OLIVE — The Mount Olive Pirates crushed the Bogue ChittoBobcats 50-7 Friday night to secure the No. 2 seed in the Region4-1A and host a first-round playoff game. The Pirates were poweredby quarterback Julius McNair who passes for 3 first half touchdownsand set a new Mississippi record with 119 TDs. Mt. Olive improvedto 9-1 on the season.
Bogue Chitto (8-2) travels to Durant (10-1) Friday. Durantdefeated South Leake 28-7.
“Mt. Olive has a real good football team,” said Bogue Chitto headfootball coach Gareth Sartin. “We didn’t show up to play. It wasour worst game of the year.”
The Bobcats scored in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard pass-playfrom quarterback Seth Avants to split end D.J. Turner.
Powering the Bobcat running game with 16 carries for 85 yards wasAvants. Cole Laird rushed 13 times for 112 yards followed by DonyeaDillon with 38 yards on 7 carries. In the air, Avants completed 2of 10 passes for 26 yards. D.J. Turner caught a pass for 20 yardsand Brian Anderson had the other catch for 6 yards.
Defensively, Bogue Chitto was led by Scotty Brownwith 7 tackles. James Anderson followed with 6 tackles.
