Brookhaven Academy puts broom on Parklane

McCOMB — Brookhaven Academy’s basketball teams took care ofbusiness Saturday, sweeping the Parklane Academy Pioneers and LadyPioneers. In the varsity boys game, Blaine Roberts sacked 16 pointsand Corey Dickerson 14 in pacing the Cougars to a 50-43 win overthe Pioneers. In the varsity girls game, freshman center AnnaKatelyn Mangold’s 12 points and 7 rebounds carried the Lad Cougarsto a 41-31 triumph.

Brookhaven Academy hosts Prentiss Christian School Tuesday nightfor its first District 4-AA test of the season.

The Lady Cougars (9-1) got 6 rebounds fromBetsy Lynch, Kelli Snider and Kellie Brady. They led Parklane 25-14at halftime.

Nicole Smith dished out 6 assists in the victory.

The Lady Pioneers were led by Caitlyn Adams with 9 points.

The Cougars (6-1) were led on the back boardsby Daniel Lofton’s 5 rebounds. Coach Dale Watts watched his teamroar to a 21-14 halftime lead.

Parklane got 13 points from Blake Brown and 10 from DaneHogan.

Junior High Action

In the junior high girls game, Brookhaven whipped Parklane41-19, led by Laura Beth Wright’s 14 points. Terah Winborne chippedin 12 points and Mary Lindsey Magee had 8.

Parklane got 4 points from Chelsea Simmons.

In the boys game, Brookhaven blitzed Parklane 55-35, led byChristian Keene’s 15 points. Chandler Rogers added 13 points andCarr Tigner 11. Allan Allred added 10 points for the 6-1Cougars.

Parklane was led by Steven Swindle’s 16 points.
