Bogue Chitto bags split with Cathedral

BOGUE CHITTO — Darcy Miller fired in 14 points, grabbed 2rebounds and made 7 steals Tuesday night in leading the Lady ‘Catsto a 74-29 division win over the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wavein Division 7-1A basketball action.

Varsity boys action saw Cathedral put away Bogue Chitto 64-47,powered by Juan Gray’s 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 7assists.

Bogue Chitto hosts Sacred Heart of Hattiesburg Friday night fora division test.

Bogue Chitto 74, Cathedral 29

The Bogue Chitto girls (4-5, 1-0) opened the first quarter witha 16-5 run on Cathedral.

“We came out and played hard from start to finish,” said BogueChitto girls coach Christi Terrell. “Everyone got playingtime.”

Adrienne Hall followed Miller in scoring with 13 points, 6rebounds and 9 steals for the ‘Cats. Kelli Howard netted 12 points,grabbed 8 rebounds, made 8 steals and had 3 assists. Scoring 11points and collecting 4 rebounds was Shelby Tobias.

“It was ugly,” said Cathedral girls coach Kathy Granning. “Wedid well prior to this game. We just did not prepareourselves.”

Leading Cathedral with 7 points each were Kristen Dobard andAnna Huffines.

Cathedral 64, Bogue Chitto 47

The Greenies (9-2, 1-0) jumped on the Bobcats 12-8 in the firstquarter and pushed their lead to 28-18 at halftime.

“We played sloppy tonight,” said Cathedral boys coach PeterArnold. “We settled down in the second half and made ourshots.”

Bogue Chitto (1-6, 0-1) got 17 points and 2 steals from BrianRobinson. Colby Johnson finished with 11 points and 2 rebounds forCoach Andy Smithie’s Bobcats.

Adding support to the Cathedral win with 12 points and 6rebounds was Jameron Jones. Tops off the backboards with 13rebounds was Andy Lucas followed by Daniel Culbert 8.

Junior high action

Cathedral rolled over Bogue Chitto 37-26 in the boys game.

Leading Bogue Chitto with 16 points was Michael Harris. ZacAvants had 5 points.

Collin Hammins netted 16 points for Cathedral. Daniel Huffinesscored 18 points followed.

In girls action, the ‘Cats nipped the Greenies 29-26. PoweringBogue Chitto with 8 points each were Adrienne Wallace and AliyahDurr. Rheagan Welch had 5 points.

Cathedral got a game-high 20 points from Genny Daggett.
