Services for Pearl Lena Strickland, of Wesson, are 1 p.m.,Thursday, Dec. 27, at Zion Hill M.B. Church in Wesson with burialin the church cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 1 until 7 p.m. with family hourfrom 6 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Strickland, 93, died Dec. 20, 2007, at her residence. Shewas born on April 26, 1914, to Douglas Hooks and Celian WhiteHooks.

She was retired. She was a member of Zion Hill M.B. Church whereshe served on the Mother’s Board; was the Adult Class Sunday schoolteacher and an usher. She was also a member of the EasternStar.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter, DorothyHill; her son, Tom Johnson; and her brothers, Willie Patterson andRobert Patterson.

She is survived by her husband, Willie Strickland, of Wesson;her daughter, Golda O’Neal, of Milwaukee, Wis.; her son, ErvinJohnson Sr., of Lansing, Mich.; her stepsons, Shurron Stricklandand Donald Strickland, both of Jackson; 26 grandchildren; 27great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
